Dr. Seuss' legacy lives on

World-renowned children’s book illustrator Theodor Geisel, more popularly known as Dr. Seuss was well-known for his engaging stories, brilliant illustrations and playful sounds that helped propel children’s love for reading and books. Until today, Dr. Seuss is well-loved because of his huge contribution and lasting impact to the word of children’s literature.

Keeping Dr. Seuss’s legacy alive, author Stephen J. Hemenway was inspired to publish a children's book series known as The Slouch in the Couch series.


Never Jump on a Grump is Hemenway’s second published book and is filled with outrageous illustrations by Shaun Piela as well as fun and exciting rhymes.

Like the two other titles in his self-published children's book series, The Slouch in the Couch and The Stinkells in Stankwell, Never Jump on a Grump is a fantastic read for children guaranteed to encourage them to read at the same time teach them proper values.

Stephen J. Hemenway is a Deputy Sherriff at the County of Los Angeles. He is also a member of Broadcast Music Inc. (BMI), the International Police Association and the Association for Los Angeles Deputy Sheriff’s. He is also a doting husband to his wife Terri and a proud father of three girls, April, Ashley and Stacie.
